There had been in the works for the past year and we had decided to use tempo as the jaeger storage backend since tempo had matured a lot since the past two years.
Reason we used loki backend before was because tempo lacked support for Azure and Google Cloud Storage. The work is done and we have some finishing touches before we can release it to the public.
